Michael Ogungbaro fired home a long-range screamer on Friday to give FF Jaro a 2-1 lead, but a late equaliser from VPS dashed their hopes of a home win in the Finland Veikkausliiga.

Despite the Nigerian’s brilliance, the match ended 2-2 at the Project Liv Arena TN, leaving fans with mixed emotions, Footballrover reports.

Michael Ogungbaro’s Thunderbolt Moment Not Enough for FF Jaro

The 29-year-old Nigerian midfielder scored a sensational goal in the 68th minute to put Jaro in front after a tight contest.

His powerful strike from outside the box marked his second goal of the season, coming after his last finish on June 28 in a 3-2 loss to KTP.

Before Ogungbaro’s goal, it was Tristan Dekker who had given visiting team the lead in the 50th minute.

However, Jaro hit back quickly through Adam Vidjeskog, who levelled the game and restored momentum for the home side.

Then came Ogungbaro’s standout moment—his rocket gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage and looked to have sealed all three points.

VPS Fights Back Late to Deny Jaro the Win

Unfortunately for the home fans, their joy was short-lived. Just two minutes after Ogungbaro’s strike, the visitors responded through Maissa Fall, who scored in the 70th minute to make it 2-2.

Neither side could find the winner in the final 20 minutes, and the points were shared.

Ogungbaro has now made 16 appearances this season, starting 12 of them.

His consistent performances have been a bright spot in Jaro’s campaign, and his goal against VPS will be remembered as one of the team’s highlights of the season.

Jaro will now shift focus to their upcoming fixture against Oulu on August 2, aiming to convert performances like this into full victories.
