Chelsea were clinical when it mattered as they romped to a comfortable victory over Aston Villa courtesy of Mason Mount, who delivered a man of the match performance to help the Blues grind out three more points on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 2-0 in their Premier League match as Graham Potter’s reign has been successful at an incredible rate.

Thanks to a double from Mason Mount, the Blues have now sealed their fifth straight win in all competitions with the 2-0 win over the Steven Gerrard side.

The Blues manager has already won nine league games this season for both Brighton and Chelsea, collecting 22 points out of a potential 27, but today he will obviously be grateful to Kepa for his heroics and Mount’s skill on the other end.

Although Aston Villa’s attacking troubles persist, a stronger performance might provide some solace to their disgruntled supporters, many of whom left before the game was over.

With the victory, Chelsea moves up to fourth place, three points ahead of Manchester United, while Villa drops to 16th place and remains in poor form with nine points from ten games.

Chelsea will play Brentford and Manchester United in the coming week after keeping another clean sheet today, partly due to their talented goalie.

Steven Gerrard and his struggling Aston Villa team will go to Fulham on Thursday in an effort to escape the Premier League relegation zone.
