Malian U-23 men’s football team was the dominant side in the West African derby between Mali, and Guinea in 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nation’s (U-23 AFCON) football battle in Morocco.

It was a match to determine the bronze medal winner of the competition, and Africa’s third representatives in men’s football event of Paris 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Mali overpowered Guinea in penalty shootout after the match ended goal-less after 90 minutes regulation time.
