Real Madrid star player, Luka Modric, has declared that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be his last hanging boot point for an international competition.

Even though the Croatian center midfielder appears to be 27 years old, the player is actually close to 40.

Following the 2018 World Cup, when Modric led his country to the final game and also won the Ballon d’Or for his performances, there was a noticeable decline in his output for the Spanish giants.

As he approaches the end of his career and competes for another year-long contract extension at Santiago Bernabéu, the Real Madrid magician will be focusing on reducing the amount of strain and stress on his body.

His final World Cup outings in Qatar 2022 will be remembered fondly by Croatian and football fans alike.

Luka Modric’s talent still distinguishes him out among the others despite his advanced age, and he has shown little evidence of slowing or stopping since regaining his previous level of play following the 2018–19 season.

Last season, Modric played a key role in helping Real Madrid lift the La Liga and Champions League titles.

While speaking to Fifa+, Modric said;

“I am aware that I am of a certain age and that this is my last competition in the Croatian National team.”
