Lobi Stars head coach Eugene Agagbe has revealed what frustrated his team to succumb to a crushing defeat at the hands of the Sunshine Stars during their Wednesday NPFL game in Akure.
Two first-half goals were all the home team needed to edge out their visitors at Akure Stadium, Footballrover reports.
Vincent Temitope found the breakthrough barely 14 minutes into the game before Chidozie Iwundu hit the net 16 minutes later to double their lead heading into the interval.
The second period of the game had little to talk about as the home team held on to seal off the victory and all three points.
It was the first victory for Kennedy Boboye, the new manager of the Owena Waves.

Speaking after the game, the coach of the visiting side, Agagbe, refused to blame his players following their disappointing 2-0 loss in the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 22 encounter.
“Normally, when you come into a game, you have your plans, but situations change at the end of the day.”
Rather, Agagbe offered his players accolades for their fierce battle during the match.
Coach Eugene Agagbe explained that his team’s early frustration stemmed from receiving a red card and being down courtesy of two quick goals conceded, which he claimed led to a loss of focus.

However, he praised his team’s fighting spirit in the second half, where they remained focused despite being a man down.
“We will continue to work harder. This match is behind us now,” he said.
The coach went on to say that he now wants to focus on his team’s upcoming Sunday clash against Katsina United in Lafia.
“I am looking ahead to the game against Katsina United in Lafia, planning on how to secure three points,” he said.
Despite the crushing defeat, Lobi Stars manages to maintain top position on the NPFL table.
