In the midst of his exclusion from the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Leon Balogun has showered praise on Cyriel Dessers, who continues to shine for Rangers.
Dessers, who netted the winning goal in Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Hearts, has now scored three goals in his last three matches, Footballrover reports.
Despite his impressive form, the 29-year-old forward was left out of Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, with out-of-form players like Umar Sadiq and Kelechi Iheanacho receiving the call-up instead.
Balogun, who recently returned to the starting lineup, expressed his admiration for Dessers’ dedication and contribution to the team.

Balogun, who was also left out of the national team squad, believes Dessers has the potential for even greater success.
With 10 goals already this season, the Rangers forward has been a key figure for the team. Balogun remains optimistic about what’s next for his teammate.
While speaking to Rangers TV, the Nigerian defender said,
“We need Cyriel up there. I wish sometimes that he would reward himself more. Everyone would benefit from that.
“He is really trying, and I am pleased for him to score three goals on the bounce. It is good for his confidence, and hopefully he picks up even more.”
