Lauren James, the younger sister of Reece James, scored her first goal for Chelsea in a 9-0 win over Leicester City during their Barclays FA Women’s Super League game on Sunday afternoon.
With an impressive performance over their hosts at the King Power Stadium, Chelsea Women advanced to the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table.
All the Blues needed were goals from Guro Reiten, Sam Kerr, Bethany England, Aniek Nouwen, Lauren James, and Jessie Fleming to secure a crucial three points and overtake Arsenal in the WSL title battle.
It took only seven minutes for Chelsea Women to lead 3-0 against Leicester City. They are the first side to ever score three times within the opening 10 minutes of a match in the competition.

Late in the game, Lauren James scored her first goal of the season when Charles pushed the ball back for the 20-year-old, who was unmarked in the middle of the box and she fired the ball past Lambourne to make the scoreline 8-0 for the visitors.

🎙“Delighted to get my first Chelsea goal, great win today. Thanks for the fans that traveled out to Leicester.” – Lauren James
With five games remaining, Emma Hayes’ side are now one point ahead of Arsenal and at the top of the WSL for the first time this season.

Chelsea Women’s 9-0 victory over Leicester City is equal to their 9-0 triumph over Bristol City last season in the Barclays FA Women Super League.
It’s also the competition’s joint-largest away win since its inception (Doncaster 0-9 Liverpool in August 2013).
The Blues have gone undefeated in their last eight league games, with five more to go as the title fight heats up, with Hayes’ side aiming for a third consecutive league triumph.
