It was a goal fest for the Harmony Boys in their final touch for the season as they shut down their campaign in stunning fashion with goals from Wasiu Alalade, Emmanuel Ogbole, Alao Mohammed, and Godwin Oshagbemi, Footballrover reports.

According to Opta Nigeria, the 4-0 win over Heartland at the Kwara State Stadium marks the team’s biggest victory in four years, since a 5-0 win over Adamawa United in March 2021.

The Afonja Warriors dominated the battle field from start to finish, leaving no stone untouched in a move to retain their NPFL status ahead of next season.

Footvallrover gathered Star player Taiwo Awoniyi of the Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest was there at the Ilorin Township Stadium to support Kwara United against Heartland FC.

For every goal scored, he promised to give the Harmony Boys $500,000 and the players took it personal.

Their matchday 38 was a day of redemption as Wasiu Alalade quickly handed the host the lead barely five minutes into the game, and 24 minutes later, Emmanuel Ogbole doubled the lead for his team heading into halftime.

It took Kwara United 19 minutes after the restart to grab their third goal through Alao Mohammed, before Godwin Oshagbemi’s 89th-minute effort sealed off the impressive victory.

This emphatic victory propelled Kwara United up the NPFL standings and instilled confidence in the team after a season fraught with relegation concerns.

The Ilorin Boys finished in 13th place with just 51 points. They managed to win just 12 out of their 38 matches, losing 11 and drawing 15 games.

All through their campaign, they shipped in well over 37 goals, scoring 38 themselves, and will now look to build on this momentum in their next campaign.
