Nigerian forward Kparobo Arierhi continued his fine form ahead of the new season, finding the net once again as Lillestrøm played out an eight-goal thriller against Strømsgodset in a pre-season friendly on Friday evening.
The 19-year-old struck his side’s fourth goal of the game, but Lillestrøm were unable to hold on to their slender advantage and eventually settled for a 4–4 draw, Footballrover reports.
Kparobo Arierhi Scores 4th Goal in Two Games
The Flying Eagles youngster had earlier delivered a sensational hat-trick in Lillestrom’s previous friendly, a nine-goal spectacle against KFUM Oslo.
Arierhi has now scored in back-to-back matches, taking his tally to four goals in two games.
The hosts came out flying. Gustav Kjolstad Nyheim struck early to set the tone, and Lars Ranger doubled the advantage inside 14 minutes.
Two quick punches, and it looked like the hosts might run away with it.
But Stromsgodset had other ideas.
Gustav Wikheim sparked the comeback in the 36th minute, and just three minutes later James Ampofo had the scores level before halftime. From cruising control to 2–2 in the blink of an eye.
The second half refused to calm down. Salieu Drammeh restored Lillestrom’s lead shortly after the break, only for Mats Spiten to respond and drag Strømsgodset level again.
Arierhi Shines in Lillestrom’s Eight-Goal Thriller
Arierhi then nudged Lillestrom back in front at 4–3, seemingly putting them in pole position to close it out.
Seemingly.
Deep into stoppage time, Stromsgodset found the final twist — an equaliser that capped a breathless encounter and ensured both sides walked away with mixed emotions.
Pre-season or not, this one had everything.
