KJ Viktoria secured a historic win as they emerged victorious in the inaugural Bet9ja Foundation Football Competition held at the Ejigbo mini stadium, Lagos.

The intense final saw both teams, KJ Viktoria and Great Success FC, locked in a goalless draw throughout regular play, leading to a gripping showdown settled by penalties.

The match was a fierce battle between well-acquainted rivals, with neither side yielding an inch throughout the game.

Despite numerous attempts, the first half finished without any goals, setting the stage for an action-packed second half.

In the 77th minute, KJ Viktoria came tantalizingly close to breaking the deadlock, but their shot veered wide off the goal post, keeping the scoreline intact.

With the deadlock unbroken after 90 minutes of play, the game headed straight into the penalty shootout, where KJ Viktoria’s resilience came through.

Their goalkeeper made three crucial saves, sealing their victory with a 5-4 edge in penalties, while Great Success FC managed to save two spot kicks.

Christian Uwandu, representing BYT Academy, emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, leading the charts with an impressive tally of five goals.

Tobi James, the standout player from KJ Viktoria, earned the coveted Player of the Tournament title for his exceptional contributions, proving instrumental in guiding his team to glory.

Maxwell Usoro of Great Success FC was recognized as the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper, lauded for his remarkable reflexes and outstanding goalkeeping skills, which earned him widespread acclaim throughout the competition.

The victory marks a monumental achievement for KJ Viktoria, who displayed their dominance and resilience in the first edition of the thrilling Bet9ja Foundation Football Competition.
