Kelechi Iheanacho: Struggling Super Eagles star nets third Copa Del Rey goal for Sevilla

Kelechi Iheanacho has been far from his best in La Liga this season, yet the Super Eagles forward continues to shine in the Copa Del Rey.

Kelechi Iheanacho:

His third goal of the season helped Sevilla secure a dominant 3-1 win over Olot on Thursday night, yet there are concerns about his future at the club, footballrover reports.

Iheanacho’s goal came in the second half, completing Sevilla’s comfortable victory.

After a slow start in La Liga, the 28-year-old has shown his potential in the Spanish Cup, scoring in each of the last two Copa Del Rey matches, including a brace against Las Rozas last month.

Sevilla capitalised shortly after, with Gonzalo Montiel converting a penalty to give his side the lead.

Juanlu Sanchez doubled Sevilla’s advantage in the second half, before Iheanacho sealed the win with a calm tap-in, courtesy of a precise cross from Stanis Idumbo.

While Iheanacho has struggled in La Liga, where he has yet to score after seven appearances, his Copa Del Rey form says otherwise.

With three goals in two Cup matches, the Nigerian is proving his value in the knockout competitions.

Despite his success in the Copa Del Rey, Iheanacho’s future at Sevilla remains uncertain.

After joining from Leicester City on a free transfer in the summer, the forward is reportedly attracting interest from West Bromwich Albion and Watford, both keen to sign him on loan in January.

As the transfer window nears, Sevilla will have to decide whether to let the Nigerian return to England or keep him for the remainder of the season.
