Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho is embracing a new chapter in his career after securing a loan move to Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough from Spanish club Sevilla.

The forward, eager for a fresh challenge, expressed excitement about his new environment and his determination to make an impact, Footballrover reports.

Iheanacho excited for fresh start at Middlesbrough

Iheanacho’s switch to Middlesbrough was finalized on Monday, and the 28-year-old wasted no time in sharing his joy.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Super Eagles star described Middlesbrough as a welcoming place where he already feels at home.

He acknowledged the swift nature of the transfer and praised the club, stating that he has always respected them after facing them in the past.

The Nigerian forward also had positive words for Middlesbrough’s manager, calling him a great person with whom he has already built a good relationship.

Difficult Sevilla spell behind him, focus on Middlesbrough

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer after leaving Leicester City but endured a tough spell, failing to score in nine La Liga appearances.

Now, he is determined to regain his best form at the Riverside.

Reflecting on his move, he admitted that leaving Sevilla has given him a fresh perspective.

“It was great to get away and feel a different environment,” he said. “Sevilla is a great team, and I’ll always appreciate my time there, but my focus is here now and on what we can achieve at Middlesbrough.”

Returning to England, a place he describes as home, Iheanacho recalled his past success in the Championship with Leicester City.

He understands the league’s demands and is ready for the challenge ahead. Confident in his abilities, he looks forward to helping Middlesbrough compete at the highest level.
