Kano Pillars head coach, Usman Abdallah, was left disheartened after his side’s 2-0 home defeat to Remo Stars, describing it as a āpainfulā loss that ended their unbeaten start to the 2024/2025 NPFL season.
The clash at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Pillars’ temporary home in Katsina, saw the Sai Masu Gida struggle to contain a sharp Remo Stars side, Footballrover reports.
Super Eaglesā star, Ismail Sodiq, opened the scoring for the visitors just 26 minutes in, stunning the home crowd.
Togolese forward Franck Mawuena then sealed the victory on the hour mark, doubling Remoās lead and securing three crucial points.
Abdallah didnāt hold back in his post-match remarks, admitting that Remo Stars’ superior preparation gave them the upper hand.
The Sky Blue Stars, thanks to their continental commitments, were firing on all cylinders while Kano Pillars are still finding their rhythm, Abdallah said.
āItās a painful defeat for us, especially at home,ā Abdallah confessed, clearly frustrated by the abrupt halt to his teamās unbeaten run.
However, he remained optimistic, though, vowing that Pillars will regroup and push for maximum points in their next outing.
Full-Time
Kano Pillars 0-2 Remo Stars
A defeat for us in Katsina. Not the results we wanted but the boys will come back stronger in subsequent outings.
