Juventus has been dumped out of the Champions League in the last 16 for the second time after a devastating defeat to Villarreal in Spain.
Villarreal’s immaculate defensive effort undid the Italians, resulting in a 3-0 triumph and a 4-1 aggregate victory.
The visitors waited a long their time, hoping for a slip-up from their unknowing hosts, which Rugani did late in the second half.

When it arrived, Moreno struck from the penalty spot, and Juve had no chance. Torres and Danjuma rounded up the commanding victory.
Juventus has now been eliminated from the Champions League at this level three times in as many seasons.

They were terrible, yet Villarreal remained composed throughout. Emery’s team only had three shots on target the whole game, but they converted on all of them.
You will hardly see a more clinical performance. In the quarter-finals, they’ll pose a threat to any team.

Juve will now have to ponder on yet another poor European performance, while Villarreal will wait to see who they will face in the quarter-finals.
In this season’s Champions League, the Yellow Submarine has fully emerged.
