Josh Maja put out a brilliant performance to help West Brom clinch a well-deserved away victory over Stoke City in an entertaining Sky Bet Championship matchday three clash on Saturday.
Maja’s first-half goal sealed the deal for West Bromwich Albion, who edged out Stoke City 2-1 in the thrilling encounter at the Bet365 Stadium, Footballrover reports.
The match kicked off with Karlan Grant giving West Brom the upper hand in the 18th minute.
Tom Fellows dazzled on the right flank, delivering a pinpoint cross to the back post, where Grant was perfectly positioned to nod the ball home.
But Stoke City wasn’t ready to roll over. Just 11 minutes later, Lewis Koumas capitalised on their first real opportunity to level the scores.
Then, it was Maja’s moment to shine. Fellows, having already provided one assist, turned provider once more, setting up Maja with a delightful pass 14 minutes before the interval.

The Nigerian forward calmly side-footed the ball past Viktor Johansson, securing a well-deserved victory for West Brom, who dominated much of the game and had the lion’s share of goal attempts.
Maja’s strike marked his fourth goal in just three league outings for the Baggies this season, evidence that the Nigerian is in red-hot form.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes, demonstrating his importance to the team.
Meanwhile, his compatriot, Semi Ajayi, was a rock at the back, also completing the full match and contributing to the team’s solid defensive display.
West Brom now looks ahead to their next challenge, hosting Swansea City at the end of August, as they hold steady in 4th place on the Championship table with seven points.
In the Premier League, another Nigerian star, Ola Aina, put on a defensive masterclass for Nottingham Forest, while Taiwo Awoniyi made a late appearance as a substitute in their narrow victory over Joe Aribo’s Southampton.
Morgan Gibbs-White clinched the win for Forest with a dramatic late goal at St. Mary’s Stadium, ensuring a valuable three points for the visitors.
