Josh Maja is finally back on the scoresheet, ending his long goal drought to help West Brom secure a huge victory over Hull City and bring an end to their 13-game winless run in the championship.
The Super Eagles star opened the scoring as West Bromwich Albion thrashed their visitors 3–0 at The Hawthorns, capping off an impressive unbeaten week for the Baggies, Footballrover reports.
Josh Maja ends 5-month goal drought to inspire WestBrom victory
Maja, who also has one assist to his name this season, registered his second championship goal of the campaign.
The strike took his overall goal contributions for the season to five, having also scored twice in the FA Cup.
Since last scoring against Norwich on October 1, 2025, the 27-year-old Nigerian forward had endured a five-month wait for a goal, going more than 30 games without finding the back of the net.
While Maja returned to the spotlight with his decisive contribution, his compatriot Semi Ajayi ended up on the losing side with Hull City.
The Baggies set a high tempo from the start, with Josh Maja and Aune Heggbø leading a relentless attack that kept the Hull defence under constant pressure.
The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Josh Maja clinically finished a cross from Jed Wallace.
Hull’s afternoon worsened shortly after when Charlie Hughes received a red card for fouling the ever-dangerous Wallace.
Despite a string of missed chances and goal-line clearances, Albion finally doubled their lead in the 67th minute; substitute Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba provided an immediate impact by assisting Heggbø.
Isaac Price added the finishing touch in stoppage time, rounding the keeper to seal three points against the high-flying Tigers.
Alebiosu bags third assist as Blackburn complete comeback win
It was a similar story for Ryan Alebiosu in the Championship, but this time the Super Eagles defender provided an assist to inspire Blackburn Rovers to a comeback victory over Millwall, helping them end a run of poor results.
Heading into the encounter, Blackburn had endured three defeats and a draw. However, the Nigerian defender set up the equaliser that brought them back into the game before they went on to secure a 2–1 away win after coming from a goal down.
The 24-year-old Nigerian, who also has a goal to his name, has now registered three assists this season, taking his total goal contributions to four in 31 appearances.
In a dramatic encounter at The Den, Mathias Jorgensen proved to be the ultimate super sub, scoring a late brace to secure a 2-1 comeback victory for Blackburn.
The match swung on two key moments in the second half. First, Millwall substitute Luke Cundle volleyed the hosts ahead.
However, the momentum shifted just five minutes later when Millwall’s Zak Sturge received a straight red card for a professional foul on Yuki Ohashi.
Capitalising on the man advantage, Michael O’Neill’s side surged forward. Jorgensen, introduced from the bench, equalised in the 80th minute by converting a low cross from Ryan Alebiosu.
Five minutes later, he struck again, smashing a powerful finish into the roof of the net following a clever flick from Ryoya Morishita.
The result halted Millwall’s pursuit of the top two and returned Rovers to winning ways ahead of their clash with Middlesbrough.
