Super Eagles forward Josh Maja is back in the spotlight, scoring his first goal of the season to help West Bromwich Albion snatch a narrow 1-0 away victory over Norwich City in their Championship Round 8 clash at Carrow Road on Wednesday evening.
After making five appearances this season—all from the bench—Maja was handed his first start, and he seized the moment by delivering the decisive goal of the match, Footballrover reports.

The 25-year-old striker endured a difficult spell earlier last season after undergoing calf surgery in January, which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
Over the summer, he was linked with a move away from the Hawthorns, but the deal never materialised, and that decision now looks like a blessing for both player and club.
Before his setback, Maja had been in fine form, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 26 appearances last season.
The Nigerian international will be eager to regain full fitness and surpass that tally this term.
On Wednesday night, it took him just 20 minutes to make his mark. A slick move down the right saw the ball whipped across the box and parried by the Norwich goalkeeper, only to fall kindly to Maja, who reacted sharply to fire home from close range.
Maja put in a lively shift for 60 minutes before making way for Aune Selland Heggebo, but his early strike proved enough as the Baggies held on to secure all three points.
Maja’s First Start Pays Off for West Brom
The victory ends a rough patch for Ryan Mason’s side, who had gone three games without a win—losing to Derby County and Middlesbrough and drawing with Leicester City.
The result lifts West Brom to fourth in the Championship table, just four points behind leaders Middlesbrough.
Next up for Maja and his teammates is a home clash against Millwall on Saturday, where they’ll aim to build on this momentum and close the gap at the top.
