Super Eagles star Josh Maja announced himself in grand style with a sensational hat-trick as West Brom Albion kicked off their EFL Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.
Three goals from the young Nigerian were all West Brom needed to edge past QPR in the EFL Championship season opener on Saturday afternoon, Footballrover reports.
The Nigerian forward completed his treble in a dominant display at Loftus Road, helping the Baggies overcome an early setback to claim all three points.
Denmark’s Lucas Andersen gave QPR a 16th-minute lead, but Maja levelled matters ten minutes later, heading home Torbjorn Heggem’s cross.

The second half belonged to the visitors, with Maja striking again after being set up by Tom Fellows just six minutes into the second half before sealing his hat-trick on 65 minutes.
He skilfully latches onto a deflected pass to hand the away side a 3-1 win.

Fellow Nigerian Semi Ajayi played the full 90 minutes for West Brom, who dominated possession despite QPR’s greater number of shots.
The Baggies now turn their attention to the EFL Cup, with a trip to Fleetwood Town scheduled for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Watford secured a 3-2 win over Millwall, with former Flying Eagles player Tom Dele-Bashiru featuring for the full game.
