Sabah FK came into this game at the back of a 3-1 defeat to Shamakhi, followed by a 1-1 draw with Neftci Baku and a goalless draw with Sumqayit.

Hoping to bounce back from these recent poor results, Sabah FK started strongly when Pavol Safranko converted a penalty just six minutes in.

However, their lead lasted only five minutes as Mahamadou Ba equalised for the hosts.

Just before halftime, Jesse Sekidika restored Sabah FK’s lead with a well-taken goal, marking his seventh league goal of the season.

Yet, his contribution fell short; Sabah FK’s defensive frailties proved costly again.

The second half saw Ali Samadov come off the bench to level the score for Kapaz FK barely eight minutes on the pitch.

The visitors’ problems worsened when Ygor Nogueira received a second yellow card, reducing Sabah FK to ten players and in a desperate fight for survival.

Kapaz took full advantage, winning a penalty that Rauf Huseynli converted in the 64th minute to seal the win.

The loss means Sabah FK has now failed to win in their last four league games, recording two draws and two defeats.

They remain in fifth place with 28 points from 21 games but are under increasing pressure as their form continues to decline.

With only one win in their last six matches, Jesse Sekidika and his teammates must regroup quickly ahead of their next fixture against Sumqayit.
