Alex iwobi’s Everton secured Premier League survival after coming from behind to defeat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Goodison Park on Thursday night.
The visiting team led 2-0 at the break, thanks to Mateta’s close-range goal, before a sequence of defensive errors led to Ayew’s goal on the line.
Richarlison came close to scoring from a free kick for Everton, but they came back with a fighting spirit after the interval.
After Keane managed to pull one back for the Frank Lampard team, Richarlison struck again to level the scores as Andersen failed to clear the ball.
Before Calvert-Lewin then sealed the victory with a diving header from Gray’s free kick.
Everton missed out on a place in the Premier League next season when they lost 3-2 to Brentford last time out, finishing with nine men, but they made amends today.
The pressure has now been taken off Everton heading into their final game of the season against Arsenal, as they can no longer be caught by Leeds United or Burnley.
The 3-2 victory keeps them in the top flight with one game remaining, moving them four points clear of Leeds United.
