Graham Potter has urged Chelsea supporters not to anticipate an easy ride from the team he is in charge of, as he firmly feels that the team will have to endure some suffering before things at the club start to turn around.
Recall that Potter left Brighton for Chelsea earlier this season after Thomas Tuchel was shockingly sacked and he has enjoyed a fine run of games as the new Boss at Stamford Bridge.
But then, the 4-1 loss to Graham Potter’s former team at the weekend, dramatically ended a nine-game unbeaten streak that also comprised draws against Brentford and Red Bull Salzburg.
Potter maintains that despite the surprising outcome of the game, he does not view the loss to Brighton as a disgraceful one, although he did reminded Chelsea fans that the team will continue to experience grief and hardship before things will significantly improve.

โI think itโs a case of analysing the game, being calm, being fair. Itโs not necessarily about the players, itโs about all of us including myself, how we can improve, what we can do better. Itโs not a disgrace to lose here.” – he said after the game.
Potter felt that his Chelsea team started the game poorly because Brighton were more determined and had some extremely good players than his club.
โYou could see the opponent was very motivated and they have some really good players. We got off to a bad start and it was not a pleasant afternoon for us. But you have to have that sometimes if you want to make progress.” – Potter said.
The Chelsea Boss added that;
โIf you think the line is going to go straight up, itโs impossible. That team you see out there for Brighton wasnโt the team that was there three years ago. There is a process of pain you have to go through and you have to keep trying to improve.โ

Graham Potter continued by stating that it is impossible to advance without experiencing setbacks from time to time and that no matter what you learn, you will inevitably experience some obstacles.
โWhatever you learn, whenever youโre trying to master something or trying to get better at it, you need to sometimes have a bit of step back, you need to suffer or go through a bad experience to then grow and be better. Thatโs how I see it anyway,” – he said.
