Imade Osarenkhoe is at the peak of his game right now, exploiting his scoring prowess in every game day to push NPFL newcomers – Bendel Insurance up the Group A table.
In the abridged Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign in Ibadan, Imade scored his fifth league goal to help Bendel Insurance keep their perfect record intact.
The youngster also contributed an assist to the Benin Boys’ 2-2 tie with Shooting Stars on Sunday at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
The Week 7 match between the Nigerian heavyweights lived up to its billing when the visiting Benin Arsenal team scored two goals in a matter of minutes.
The two goals were nevertheless cancelled out by the home team at the Adamasingba Arena after a fierce encounter in which both teams gave it their all.
Within 33 seconds into the game, Imade Osarenkhoe found back of the net for the Benin Arsenals by taking advantage of a Shooting Stars defensive blunder and putting the ball past their goalie – Ikechukwu Johnson.
Barely 36 minutes on the clock, Sarki Ismael increased the advantage for the Benin Arsenals, and the struggle continued for the home team as they attempted to find a quick reply to the visitors’ early onslaught.
Imade Osarenkhoe and his teammates invaded yet again through counterattack to establish a 2-0 lead as a result of another defensive error.
Malomo Taofeek responded with a close-range shot to pull his side back into the game after a sloppy clearance by the visitors’ defenders.
With a 2-1 advantage at the end of the first half, the Benin Arsenals entered the changing room feeling quite secure.
Olufemi Opeoluwa scored a low strike for the Shooting Stars to tie the score in the 64th minute of the second half, setting off loud celebrations among the home crowd.
The score remained that way after the final whistle despite continued efforts by both sides to claim the victory.
To the surprise of many speculators, Insurance maintained their unbeaten streak in the current NFPL 23 league season and still lead Group A with 17 points.
Imade Osarenkhoe will now be hoping to keep up his goal-scoring streak when the Benin Arsenals host Nasarawa Utd on Wednesday in matchday 8 action at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
