Nigerian defender Igoh Ogbu continues to shine for Slavia, securing a crucial 2-0 victory against Servette FC in the UEFA Europa League opener on Thursday night.
The former Gombe United center-back, has been exceptional both in defense and in front of goal for Slavia recently.
His outstanding performance inspired Slavia Praha to an impressive start in the UEFA Europa League, sealing a convincing 2-0 win.
The match took place on a slippery evening, providing fans with a thrilling showdown at the rainy Stade de Geneve, Carouge.
Although the Swiss Super League side started positively, it was the visitors who took the lead just before halftime when Lukas Masopust found the net.
However, the turning point came just before the hour mark when the 23-year-old Nigerian defender, Igoh Ogbu, made his mark on the scoresheet.
Praha earned a corner, and Ogbu positioned himself perfectly to head home the winning goal.
This goal proved to be his most impactful contribution of the game, despite delivering a solid defensive performance that helped his team maintain a clean sheet away from home.

Ogbu made an impressive nine clearances, won seven aerial duels, and executed seven recoveries in a masterful display.
This goal also marked Ogbu’s first of the season for Slavia, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, kickstarting their UEFA Europa League campaign with a resounding win.
Speaking to the media after the game, Igoh Ogbu expressed his joy, saying,
“It’s great for me, when the cross came, I was standing still. God was gracious to me, I scored a goal, which is very important for me and the team. On top of that, a clean sheet, a beautiful evening.”
