Slavia Prague will have to cope without their defensive powerhouse Igoh Ogbu for the next few weeks after the Nigerian suffered a severe facial injury in their recent clash against Viktoria Plzen.
Ogbu, a key figure in Slavia’s backline, was stretched off after a head-on collision with Viktoria’s Kopic and Svetozar Markovic during a scramble in the box, Footballrover reports.
At first, it seemed like a routine head injury, but further medical tests confirmed a fractured zygomatic arch, requiring surgery.
While the exact recovery timeline remains unclear, Slavia coach Jindrich Trpisovsky hinted that Ogbu might not return until late November, likely missing several crucial matches.
This injury bears a striking resemblance to the one sustained by Slavia captain Jan Bořil, but Ogbu’s case appears more severe, which could mean a longer stint on the sidelines.
🤕 Igoh Ogbu avait perdu connaissance sur le terrain et il s’est cassé une clavicule, il a été transporté à l’hôpital et sera opéré dans les prochains jours.

His absence is a significant blow for the Czech side, as the 24-year-old Nigerian has been ever-present this season, starting all 12 matches and anchoring a defence that has kept seven clean sheets.
As Slavia prepares to face Ludogorets Razgrad in the Europa League, they’ll have to adjust quickly to life without their defensive stalwart, hoping for a speedy recovery from their Nigerian star.
Slavia will be coming into this match with an unbeaten streak of four consecutive wins and will aim to keep that record going when they face Ludogorets at the Huvepharma Arena on Wednesday.
