The Nigerian midfielder scored a debut goal and was named Man of the Match as Fulham defeated Norwich City with a resounding 2-0 victory in the EFL Cup third round on Wednesday
In the match that unfolded at Craven Cottage, the Nigerian star graced the scoresheet as Marco Silva’s squad outplayed Norwich City, securing a spot in the Carabao Cup’s fourth round.
Iwobi’s moment of glory came in the second half, when he capped off a masterful team move with a flawless first-time right-footed finish from 20 yards out, following Carlos Vinicius’ first-half opener.
However, before his memorable strike, Iwobi experienced a near miss as his close-range header narrowly soared above the crossbar.
Nevertheless, Iwobi also played a key role in Fulham’s opening goal, he earned an important free-kick, leading to Fulham’s opening goal after cleverly drawing a foul from nearly 40 yards out and Carlos Vinícius converted.
Determined to etch his name on the score sheet, Iwobi executed a flawless, first-time right-footed shot from 20 yards out, finding the far corner of the net with remarkable precision, despite minimal backlift.
Iwobi’s shot at goal took an unexpected deflection and easily hit the target. The goal was set up by Harry Wilson’s well-placed pass.
