Despite securing a spot in the Super Six, Ogbala emphasised that his team will not rest on their laurels, with their sights set on the top prize, Footballrover reports.

Heartland Queens’ 2-1 victory over Naija Ratels at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri marked a historic moment for the team, with Ogbala expressing his excitement at achieving this feat.

Having previously coached Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons to Super Six success, Ogbala was determined to make history with Heartland Queens, achieving a first for the state and the team.

Ogbala attributed the team’s success to the collective effort of the players, management, government, and fans, who worked tirelessly to support the team.

The journey was not that easy, but I muscled courage to make Imolites happy. I know everybody is happy now; the management, technical crew, my colleagues, and the players did it for us, especially with the backing from the government of Sen. Hope Uzodinma. He rallied round and gave his words for us to qualify for the Super Six,” he said.

He also acknowledged the crucial backing from the government of Governor Hope Uzodinma, which played a significant role in their qualification for the Super Six.

The coach revealed that his strategy was to prioritise victory, regardless of the number of goals scored, recognising the importance of securing three points.

He emphasised the challenge ahead, particularly after a goalless match in Abuja, and instructed his players to approach the next match with determination.

You know, in a contest like this, if you look at the history, the past, and you bring it to the present, from the championship we lost to them and last season we received it hot. I still told the players that now it is Naija Ratels again; can we allow that to happen? so I feel happy that the jinx has been broken,” the coach said.

With their eyes on the top spot, Heartland Queens will face Dannaz Ladies in Lagos in a final battle to determine who finishes atop the eight-team Group A.

The coach remains committed to achieving the top spot, even though they have already qualified for Super Six.

We still have one match to go; looking at it now, we have 24 points with the three points; we will make it 27,” he said.

The upcoming match between Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens will be decisive, with one team potentially being eliminated.

Heartland Queens will focus on securing maximum points in Lagos to top the group, and Ogbala is confident that his team has what it takes to overcome any challenge.
