Sporting Lagos Academy continued their impressive win record at the Gothia Cup with a convincing 2-0 victory over NorCal Premier PDP on Tuesday.
This win comes after their opening day victory against IFK Norrkoping by the same scoreline, as they sealed their position at the top of Group 5 with a maximum of six points, Footballrover reports.
Sporting Lagos threatened early on through Yusuf Abdullahi, who fired a shot after a well-timed run by Bidemi.
The young Tech Boys continued to mount pressure, and moments later, Musa rattled the post from close range.
Musa remained a constant threat, forcing another save just wide in the second half.
It wasn’t all attacking brilliance for Sporting Lagos. Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt produced a crucial save in the first half to keep the score level.
His composure and alertness ensured his side maintained their lead.
The encounter remained goalless for the majority of the first half, with both sides creating promising opportunities.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 42nd minute by substitute Hanif Sanusi.
Making an immediate impact, Sanusi rose majestically to meet Kelly’s cross and head the ball home for his first touch of the game.
Sanusi Seals the Win
The young noisy Lagosians continued their dominance in the second half, and Sanusi doubled his tally just four minutes after the restart.
The striker displayed his predatory instincts once again, putting the game beyond NorCal’s reach.
