Gift Orban Delivers Again for Hellas Verona

Orban scored Verona’s second goal of the night, calmly converting from the penalty spot after VAR ruled that Napoli defender Alessandro Buongiorno handled the ball inside the area.

The goal marked Gift Orban’s 5th of the season, taking his overall tally to six goal contributions in Serie A.

The 23-year-old forward was making his 11th start in 14 league appearances and showed huge composure.

His strike followed his last outing on December 14, 2025, when he grabbed a brace in Verona’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina, displaying a bright start to the new year.

Gift Orban Shines Before Napoli Fight Back

Verona had shocked Napoli with their first meaningful attack of the game when Martin Frese finished smartly from Cheikh Niasse’s low cross.

Orban then doubled the visitors’ lead from the spot, putting Napoli under serious pressure despite their dominance in possession.

Napoli responded after the break, with Scott McTominay heading home after a goalkeeping error from Lorenzo Montipò.

The hosts pushed hard for an equaliser, seeing efforts ruled out before captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo swept in the leveller eight minutes from time.

Orban remained influential for much of the contest and was on the pitch for 87 minutes before being replaced by Daniel Mosquera.

While Verona could not hold on for a famous win, the draw halted their recent heavy defeats and edged them closer to safety.

For Orban, it was another encouraging night, as the Super Eagles forward continues to grow in confidence and importance for Hellas Verona in Serie A.
