Gift Orban returned to the scoresheet in spectacular fashion, delivering a man-of-the-match performance to inspire Hellas Verona to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fiorentina in their Serie A clash on Sunday evening.
The 23-year-old forward, recently denied a couple of goals through VAR, made no mistakes this time, scoring the opener and a dramatic late winner, Footballrover reports.
Gift Orban Breaks Goal Drought With Quick Impact
Orban’s brace secured Verona all three points at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, lifting the team in their fight against the relegation zone.
Coming off the bench in the 35th minute for Giovane Nascimento, Orban took just seven minutes to find the net, delivering his third and fourth goals of the season.
This brought his total contributions to five goals in 12 appearances, ending a six-game goal drought since his last strike on October 26th, when he scored in a 2-2 draw with Cagliari.
Late Heroics Seal Verona Victory
Fiorentina briefly leveled the scores through an own-goal by Unai Nunez in the 69th minute.
Verona’s coach Paolo Zanetti faced disciplinary action, receiving a yellow card in the 70th minute and a red card 16 minutes later.
Despite the setback, Orban popped up in stoppage time to score the 93rd-minute winner, completing a remarkable display for a player who was omitted from the Super Eagles squad for AFCON 2025.
This win marks back-to-back victories for Hellas Verona, following a 3-1 win over Atalanta in their previous outing.
Orban and his teammates will now face Serie A leaders AC Milan next, aiming to climb out of the relegation zone and build momentum for the rest of the season.
