Super Falcons star Gift Monday once again proved her quality in the USA NWSL, delivering a brilliant assist that inspired Washington Spirit to a dramatic 2-2 home draw with Racing Louisville at Audi Field.

The match was a true four-goal thriller, filled with drama, last-minute brilliance, and history-making moments, Footballrover reports.

Gift Monday’s Golden Touch Sets Spirit in Motion

The game came to life in the 39th minute when Monday slipped a precise pass to Sofia Cantore, who fired her shot off the crossbar and in.

That goal not only gave Spirit the lead but also marked Cantore’s first-ever strike in the NWSL, making her the first Italian to score in the league.

For Monday, it was her second assist of the season to go along with five goals, bringing her total contribution to seven goals in 13 appearances.

Racing Louisville Fight Back, Spirit Show Resilience

Despite Washington’s bright start, Louisville came alive in the second half.

A deflected effort off Rebeca Bernal in the 53rd minute handed them an equaliser, and by the 80th minute, Savannah Demelo’s coolly converted penalty put the visitors 2-1 ahead.

The Spirit, however, refused to give in. With 11 minutes of stoppage time signalled, Rosemonde Kouassi stepped up in dramatic fashion.

In the 100th minute, she weaved past defenders and fired home the leveller, rescuing a vital point for Spirit and lifting them back into second place on the NWSL table.

What’s Next for Washington Spirit?

Gift Monday and her teammates will now prepare for back-to-back away matches in San Salvador and San Francisco.

They will also kick off their Concacaf W Champions Cup campaign against Alianza Women FC on Tuesday.
