Gambia cruise into U20 AFCON semi-finals, book World Cup spot

Gambia crushed South Sudan 5-0, scoring three goals in the first half of the third quarter- final match in the on-going U-20 CAF Africa Cup Of Nations, AFCON in Egypt to cruise into U20 World Cup and Semi-Final of the continental football championship.Gambia cruise into U20 AFCON semi-finals, book World Cup spot

Gambian forward – Adama Bojang, scored a hat-trick for his team to seal the semi-final ticket for the Gambian U-20 side.

Defender, Moses Jarju, scored the second goal for the Gambians in 27th minutes of the first of the match.

A long ball from the centre of the field of play by Gambian defender, Alagie Saine, was struck into the net by forward Adamu Bojang for the first goal of the match.

Bojang almost made it two in 22nd minutes of the half when he rounded up South Sudan goalkeeper, Godwill Sabio, but he managed to stop the ball from slipping off his hands.

A right corner kick from Gambian right winger, Salifu Volley, was headed in by defender Moses Jarju for the second goal in 27th minutes of the first half of the match.

Adama Bojang got his brace in the 32nd minutes when he received an assist from Kajally Drammeh to score the third goal for Gambia.

Bojang struck again in 47th minutes of the second half with an assist from midfielder MahmudU Bajo.

Bajo again took the match beyond the reach of South Sudan when he scored the fifth goal for Gambia in 70th minutes of the second half with an assist from Muhammed Sawaneh.

Gambia will meet Nigeria in one of the semi-finals for a place in the final of the U-20 Continental Football Championship.
