Galatasaray appears to be setting the stage for a sensational transfer, aiming to reunite Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel with his compatriot Victor Osimhen.

According to reports, the Turkish club has engaged in discreet talks to secure the 26-year-old, who currently plays for Fenerbahçe, Footballrover reports.

While Osayi-Samuel’s future with Fenerbahçe hangs in the balance, Galatasaray’s interest has stirred curiosity.

Fenerbahçe has been actively working to lock in the right-back on a long-term contract, but negotiations have hit a major roadblock.

Despite Fenerbahçe’s best efforts, the two sides remain far from reaching an agreement, with the Nigerian reportedly turning down a recent offer from the club.

Many speculate that the Nigerian defender could depart, possibly as early as January, to prevent a free transfer next summer.

Rumours of an impending move intensified when the Super Eagles defender recently addressed his uncertain future.

Recall that Footballrover reported that after Fenerbahçe’s UEFA Europa League match against Manchester United, the Nigerian defender commented on his future at the club by saying,

“I don’t know; it’s not up to me.”

As whispers grow louder, former Fenerbahçe manager Murat Aşık has added fuel to the fire with comments on 343 Digital’s YouTube channel.

Osayi-Samuel move to Galatasaray, and the €2.5 million dilemma

Aşık revealed that Bright is seeking a lucrative €2.5 million contract—aa figure that English clubs seem reluctant to meet.

This unmet demand, Aşık claims, has paved the way for Galatasaray to make its move, engaging in what he describes as an “unethical” pursuit, with the Turkish club allegedly attempting to poach Bright before his contract with Fenerbahçe expires.

The ex-manager emphasised that Galatasaray’s actions fall into a familiar pattern of courting players before their contracts are up, a strategy he believes is underhanded.

With more than six months remaining on the defender’s current deal, Aşık suggests this approach is particularly questionable.

“Osayi Samuel wants €2.5M. The English are not giving it, so Galatasaray is. Tampering with the player, which is Galatasaray’s favourite thing. It is an unethical situation because there are more than 6 months left on the contract,” Murat Aşık said.

Having joined Fenerbahçe from QPR in 2020, the Nigerian full-back has made a strong impact in the Turkish Super Lig, appearing in 145 matches and contributing seven goals and fourteen assists across all competitions.
