The 27-year-old Super Eagles star arrives on a permanent deal from Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre, penning a four-year contract in the Welsh capital, Footballrover reports.

Gabriel Osho Brings Premier League Experience to Cardiff City

With his Premier League experience and proven resilience at the back, Osho is ready to strengthen Cardiff City’s defence and bring energy to the squad.

Having started his career at Reading, Osho went on to establish himself at Luton Town, where he played a vital role in their historic promotion to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season.

During his time with the Hatters, he made 21 appearances in the English top flight and scored twice, with his first Premier League goal coming against Arsenal.

Before his success at Luton, Osho had a loan spell at Rochdale, where he worked closely with current Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy.

That connection has now been rekindled in South Wales, with the centre-back reuniting with his former coach.

After a season in France with Auxerre, Osho becomes Cardiff’s second signing of the summer transfer window following the loan arrival of goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

Cardiff’s New Signing on Why He Chose the Bluebirds

Upon completing his move, Osho shared his excitement with Cardiff City TV:

Gabriel Osho joins Cardiff City from Auxerre

I’m really happy, and really excited. It’s been a long time in the works, so to finally be here at the stadium and in the city has been good. I’m buzzing to get going.

Brian played a big part. It’s always important when the player has a good relationship with the manager. I had a really good time at Rochdale, and the connection I built with Brian and the staff there was pretty amazing. I think the relationship really was a contributing factor.

I’ve been watching the games so far, and the atmosphere is amazing. Hopefully I can feed off the team’s momentum, get going straight away, and just keep the wins and the clean sheets going.”

With his mix of top-flight experience, familiarity with the manager, and eagerness to adapt quickly, Osho looks set to be a valuable player to the Bluebirds’ backline.
