Rivers United forward – Nyima Nwagua scored the game-winning goal in a friendly match vs Akwa United as they prepare for their encounter against El Nasr Benghazi in the second round of the CAF Confederation’s Cup playoffs.
In the friendly game played behind closed doors at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Wednesday, the Port Harcourt outfit defeated their NPFL counterpart – Akwa United with a well-deserved 1-0 victory.
The Rivers United star – Nyima Nwagua scored the game’s decisive goal in the second half by expertly converting a close-range effort from Malachi Ohawume.
The game provided Pride of Rivers boss Stanley Eguma with a chance to watch his players in live match action, and the champions of the 2020–2021 Nigeria Professional Football League appeared to be a formidable foe for Akwa United.
On November 2, Rivers United will host El Nasr Benghazi in the opening leg of the CAF Confederation’s Cup playoffs at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
On Wednesday, November 9, the reverse match will be played in Benghazi.
