France 5-0 South Africa: Giroud scores, Mbappe net brace

France hammered South Africa 5-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday night, with former Chelsea star Olivier Giroud scoring a goal and Kylian Mbappe adding a brace.

Les Bleus exacted vengeance on Bafana Bafana, who were looking for a second straight win over France after defeating them 2-1 in a 2010 Fifa World Cup Group A match in Bloemfontein.France 5-0 South Africa: Giroud scores, Mbappe net brace

Mbappe was a huge threat to South Africa all through the game, scoring a brace and assisting on the fifth goal at Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

France proved too powerful for South Africa, as the defending world champions cruised to a 5-0 victory over Bafana Bafana.

It was an entirely dominant performance, with the home side firing 27 shots at South Africa’s goal, to earn a seventh consecutive victory in spectacular fashion.

The world champions have signed off for the next three months with a compelling display, although against restricted opposition, and are in good shape to defend their crown later this year, with Euro 2020 failure now a distant memory.

France, who haven’t lost a match since losing to Switzerland at the Euros, will now focus on the forthcoming Nations League, which kicks off on June 3 at home against Denmark.
