Nigerian defender Evans Ogbonda has completed a move from Nigeria Premier Football League side Enugu Rangers to Zambian giants Power Dynamos, strengthening one of Rivers United’s CAF Champions League rivals ahead of the business end of the season.
The Port Harcourt–born left-back was one of Rangers’ standout performers this season and has now taken his next step abroad, Footballrover reports.
Evans Ogbonda completes Rangers exit for Power Dynamos
The Coal City side confirmed the deal, announcing that Ogbonda joins Dynamos on a permanent transfer, with the Nigerian club retaining 40 percent of any future sale.
In a statement, Rangers described the move as an important milestone in the defender’s career and praised his professionalism and impact during his time in Enugu.
The 23-year-old defender arrives in Zambia with growing pedigree across Nigeria’s top clubs and the continental stage.
He started off his senior career with the now-defunct Ifeanyi Ubah in the 2020/21 season, moved on to Akwa United in 2021/22, and later featured for Bendel Insurance in the 2023/24 campaign.
His most recent spell with Enugu Rangers in the 2024/25 season further sharpened his profile, while appearances in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup proves his value as a battle-tested defender.

At Dynamos, he will link up with former Shooting Stars defender Ayodeji Bamidele as the club pushes on in the 2025/26 season.
Dynamos recently played out a goalless draw with Rivers United in the CAF Champions League, with both sides set to meet again this Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Footballrover understands that Ogbonda will join his new team in Uyo to finalise the transfer.
