Nigerian Premier Football League side Enyimba are ready to roar back to the top — and Nwankwo Kanu is leading the charge.

The Nigerian football legend has thrown down a clear challenge to Enyimba’s new signings: restore the People’s Elephant to their rightful place as kings of Nigerian football, Footballrover reports.
Nwankwo Kanu sets bold target for Enyimba
Enyimba FC Chairman and Nigerian football icon, Ambassador Kanu, did not mince words when he met the club’s new players in Aba.
The former Super Eagles captain and ex-Ajax Amsterdam star urged the squad to push beyond limits and bring glory back to the Elephant Park.

“Professionalism must be your watchword. We are not here just to participate; we are here to win,” Papilo declared in no uncertain terms.
The two-time African Footballer of the Year made it clear that the Aba Boys must reclaim their place at the top not just in Nigeria, but across Africa.
“We narrowly missed out last season, but this is a fresh chance to deliver happiness to our fans and reclaim our rightful place – not just in Nigeria but across Africa,” he said.
Enyimba regroup for a new NPFL challenge
The team’s record speaks for itself — nine NPFL titles, two CAF Champions League trophies, two CAF Super Cups, and four President Federation Cup triumphs.
Yet recent seasons have seen the Abia team fall short of their high standards.

In the 2024/25 NPFL campaign, the Aba giants finished in sixth place after winning just 14 of 38 league matches. They lost 11 games and drew 13, ending with 55 points — only four short of the top four.
Still under Kanu’s leadership, the team is rebuilding with a mix of youth and experience. Renovations at their home stadium are part of this fresh push to regain dominance in the NPFL and beyond.
The People’s Elephant have made it clear: they are not here to participate. They are here to win — and their fans are ready to roar with them once more.
