The home side regained the lead just before halftime when Ifeanyi Ihemekwele slotted in to make it 2-1.
The second half saw the introduction of Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye in the 61st minute.
Making his continental debut for Enyimba, Ideye justified his inclusion with a clinical finish in the 68th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.
Atule sealed the emphatic victory in stoppage time with a brilliant solo effort, sending the Enyimba faithful into rapturous celebrations.

Despite their historic win, the Nigerian side must maintain momentum to stay in contention. Their upcoming fixture against Al Masry in Uyo on Sunday is obviously a must win.
