Emmanuel Uchegbu continues to prove he’s one of the brightest young stars in MLS Next Pro after a standout performance that helped Crown Legacy defeat Chattanooga 3-1 on Saturday evening.

The 20-year-old Nigerian opened the scoring and later provided an assist, making a huge impact in Matchweek 20 at Finley Stadium, Footballrover reports.

Uchegbu’s Magic Lifts Crown Legacy Past Chattanooga

Legacy drew first blood in the 29th minute when Uchegbu fired in a stunning opener to give his side the lead.

The winger then turned creator just before halftime, assisting Dylan Sing to double the advantage.

It was a moment that showed his complete attacking range—scoring, creating, and leading from the front.

Although Chattanooga came out aggressive in the second half, Legacy remained composed.

Chattanooga’s coach, Chris Nugent, tried to spark a comeback by introducing Keegan Ancelin for Ethan Dudley, shifting to a more attacking setup. It nearly worked.

Xavier Rimpel whipped in a perfect cross for Milo Garvanian, whose header just missed the target.

The pressure eventually paid off when Tate Robertson pulled one back with a powerful long-range effort—his sixth league goal this season.

However, it was Legacy who had the final say. Super sub Andrej Subotić sealed the win with a late goal on the counterattack, wrapping up a well-deserved away victory.

Emmanuel Uchegbu’s Rising Form: Stats and Background

This performance marks another high point in a solid run of form for Uchegbu, who now has five goals and three assists in 15 matches this season.

Over the last seven games alone, he has scored three goals and assisted twice.

A former NPFL star with Plateau United and the now-defunct FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Uchegbu played 87 minutes in the match before making way for Magic Smalls.

His composure, vision, and pace might soon set him apart as a key player for Legacy.

Legacy will return to action next weekend when they host Huntsville at the Sportsplex at Matthews on Saturday, August 2, as they hope to see Uchegbu add more goals and assists to his growing tally.
