Long-forgotten Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis is plotting a fresh start after he was spotted training with Danish giants Brøndby, as he looks to secure a contract ahead of the second half of the season.
The 28-year-old forward trained with the team on Friday as players returned from the winter break, with both parties assessing the possibility of a short-term deal, Footballrover reports.
Emmanuel Dennis eyes fresh start at Brøndby after Forest setback
Dennis is currently a free agent after being released by Nottingham Forest last year following a difficult spell in England.
His time at the City Ground never truly took off, despite arriving with high expectations.
After leaving Forest, the Nigerian striker joined Blackburn Rovers on loan during the 2025 winter transfer deadline day.
However, his spell at Ewood Park was also limited. Dennis made just one start in six appearances, recorded one assist, was benched twice, and was sent off in a 1-1 draw against Norwich City.
Those struggles followed earlier stints at Istanbul Başakşehir and Watford during the 2023–24 season, as his once-promising career lost momentum.
Dennis reunites with Steve Cooper as Brøndby assess move
Brøndby is now managed by former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper, who previously worked closely with Emmanuel Dennis during their time together in England.
Cooper was responsible for bringing the former Watford forward to Forest in 2022.
Football director Benjamin Schmedes confirmed that Dennis’ familiarity with Cooper played a key role in the decision to invite him for training.
He explained that the coming days would be used to assess the player’s physical condition through training sessions and medical tests.
Schmedes added that if the evaluation proves positive, the plan is for the Nigerian international to join the first phase of Brøndby’s winter training camp.
“If it bears fruit, the initial idea is that Dennis will fly to Spain on Sunday and participate in the first half of our training camp,” he noted.
For Dennis, who has only featured eight times for Nigeria, this opportunity represents a chance to rebuild confidence, rediscover his goalscoring touch, and revive a career that once promised much at club and international level.
