Nigerian forward Elijah Adebayo delivered his third goal of the season earlier today, but his effort proved futile as Luton Town crumbled to a 4-2 defeat against Norwich City in a thrilling Championship encounter at Carrow Road.
Despite taking an early lead, Luton failed to capitalise, extending their winless run to two consecutive matches, Footballrover reports.
Adebayo gave Luton Town a dream start in the 20th minute after being set up by Jordan Clark. He was gifted a chance by a Norwich mistake and makes it count.
However, their celebrations were short-lived as Ante Crnac equalised eight minutes later before adding a second to give Norwich a 2-1 advantage before halftime.
Elijah Adebayo’s third goal of season highlights struggles
The Hatters’ defensive lapses were once again exposed, leaving the team chasing the game.
Jacob Brown reignited Luton’s hopes early in the second half, levelling the score at 2-2.
But the match slipped from their grasp as Emiliano Marcondes struck in the 81st minute, and Borja Sainz sealed the win five minutes later, condemning Luton Town to yet another frustrating defeat.
This latest loss leaves Luton Town languishing in 19th place in the Championship standings with just 18 points from 18 games.
The team’s struggles since their relegation from the Premier League are becoming increasingly frustrating, with only two wins in their last five matches and three defeats.
Adebayo’s consistent scoring, including his third goal of the season, has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
Meanwhile, his fellow Nigerian teammate Victor Moses featured in the match but was substituted shortly after halftime.
Under-fire manager Rob Edwards has issued a stern warning to his players, urging them to cut out costly errors or face being dropped.
“People have got to fix it quickly, otherwise they won’t play. Too many times it’s happened, but today it was so, so evident. I’m angry as well. We’ve just lost 4-2 and chucked it away.
“The plan was good; there was a good performance there, and we should have come away winning the game, but we’ve made four massive errors individually, and it’s cost us a game of football again,” the coach told BBC Three Counties Radio.
With a critical match against Swansea City looming, Luton Town must regroup quickly to revive their faltering season.
