In recent developments for the Ekiti state football scene, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has pledged to provide new state-of-the-art vehicles for both Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens.
This announcement follows recent online discussions highlighting the need for upgraded transportation for the state’s male and female football teams, Footballrover reports
The secretary of Ekiti United FC, Ayodeji Olowolafe, expressed dismay at certain media outlets that solely fixated on the team’s vehicles rather than focusing on the comprehensive well-being and activities of the players.
Olowolafe emphasised that the state government, under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership, is actively working on rebranding and elevating the status of the state football teams.

Securing new vehicles stands as one significant step in this strategic overhaul.
Highlighting the team’s welfare initiatives, Ekiti United Management assured that the players receive exceptional care, underscoring their position as one of the top-paying clubs in the NNL (National Nigeria League).
There has been a substantial 70% increase in players’ monthly salaries, accompanied by various other welfare packages aimed at supporting the athletes.
Moreover, the team’s management urged media outlets and the public to steer attention towards garnering support and forging partnerships for the state teams.
They emphasised the importance of supplementing the government’s initiatives to foster sports development in Ekiti State.
