Belgian winger Dodi Lukebakio has revealed his delight at seeing Chidera Ejuke’s influence growing on the pitch since the Nigerian’s arrival at Sevilla.
While Ejuke may have arrived in Spain with much anticipation, his journey to establishing himself in the starting lineup wasn’t smooth, making his current form all the more remarkable, Footballrover reports.
The Nigerian forward made the move to Sevilla this summer, following the conclusion of his contract with Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.
Known for his electric footwork and undeniable ability to glide past defenders, Ejuke had already earned a reputation as a feared dribbler in previous leagues.
Yet, even with this reputation, his early weeks at Sevilla saw limited game time, raising questions about how he would adapt to his new environment.
However, it wasn’t long before things began to shift in his favor. Three weeks ago, Ejuke found the back of the net for the first time in Sevilla colors, with a crucial goal that sealed a victory over Valladolid.
This moment appears to have sealed a place for him on the left wing, where his confidence and influence have only grown.
Ejuke’s influence shines as Sevilla’s secret weapon
Lukebakio, who had previously linked up with Ejuke during their time at Hertha Berlin, has been quick to praise his former teammate’s resurgence in Spain.
“Ejuke is giving us a lot of joy and I’m happy for him, he’s very important for us and I hope he continues like this,” Lukebakio shared.
Reflecting on their past experience together, Lukebakio noted the unique opportunity they now have to rekindle their partnership at a high-profile club like Sevilla.
The Belgian star, who was quoted by Estadio Deportivo noted that,
“We’ve already played together in Berlin and being able to do so now in a great club like this is different and special.
“We try to support each other, always wanting to give our best on the pitch. We’re going to work to score more goals and thus help the team to stay at the top of the table.”
Currently one of the top five dribblers in La Liga, the 26-year-old forward has shown his ability to change the course of a game with his flair and creativity.
