The Super Eagles duo of Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho faced yet another challenging outing with their new club Sevilla, as they struggled to secure their first victory of the season during their third La Liga match against Mallorca.
After missing out on Sevilla’s opening game—a 2-2 draw against Las Palmas—the Nigerian stars made their official debuts as substitutes in a narrow 2-1 loss to Villarreal.
Hopes were high when they both earned their first starts of the season against Mallorca, but the match turned into a tight and toothless affair with neither side able to break the deadlock.

To add to Sevilla’s woes, former Chelsea loanee Saúl Ñíguez was shown a straight red card in the 89th minute for a reckless challenge, leaving the team with ten men.
Despite the disadvantage, Sevilla managed to hold on for their second draw of the season, but with just two points from three games, it’s far from the start they hoped for.
Ejuke, who played 89 minutes, was a bright spot for Sevilla, completing four successful dribbles and creating six clear goal-scoring chances—unfortunately, none of which were converted.
He was eventually substituted for French midfielder Lucien Agoumé.
And as for former Manchester City star Iheanacho, he also had a decent outing in his 62 minutes on the pitch, creating two goal-scoring opportunities that went unclaimed before he was replaced by Isaac Romero.

With this result, both Sevilla and Mallorca find themselves with identical points and goal difference.
Sevilla will look to turn things around as they prepare to host Girona at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Sunday, aiming to head into the international break with their first win of the 2024/25 campaign.
