The team has recently beefed up their squad with a whopping 14 new recruits ahead of the 2024/25 league season and the crucial WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, Footballrover reports.

Fresh from their win as champions of the Nigeria Women’s League, Edo Queens earned their spot in the continental competition after clinching the Super Six playoff in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State.

Coach Moses Adukwu and his girls have been sweating it out in Uzairue, Edo State, with serious preparations for the upcoming challenges.

The squad has received a significant boost with the arrival of star players like Suliat Abideen, Folashade Ijamilusi, Oyono Monle, and Vera Samuel, among others.

These talented additions are set to add firepower to the Benin-based side as they aim to conquer Africa.

Edo Queens have been drawn into Group B of the WAFU B qualifiers alongside Burkina Faso’s Omnisports Etincelle FC, Ghana’s Hassacas Ladies, and Niger’s AS Garde Nationale.

Their campaign kicks off on Sunday, August 11, with a tough test against Etincelle.

The team will then face Hassacas Ladies on August 14 before concluding the group stage against AS Garde on August 17.

All matches will be played at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny Champroux Stadium in Cote d’Ivoire, which will host the competition from August 10 to 23.

As the countdown to the tournament begins, Edo Queens and their coaching staff are scheduled to depart Nigeria for Cote d’Ivoire next week.

The team is now expected to make the country proud after adding 14 new players to the team.
