Edo Queens, Nigeria’s finest in women’s football, face a stern test after being drawn in what many have dubbed the “Group of Death” for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The group includes defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, alongside Egypt’s Tutankhamun and Ethiopia’s CBE FC, in what promises to be a thrilling contest, Footballrover reports.
The draw, which was conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, sets the stage for a fiercely competitive tournament, with Edo Queens hoping to defy the odds.
The Nigerian Queens will kick off their campaign with a match against Ethiopia’s CBE FC on Saturday, November 10, in what will be a crucial opener for their group stage journey.
Following that, the Queens will face Egypt’s Tutankhamun just three days later, with both teams eager to gain an upper hand in this closely matched encounter.
To cap off their group-stage matches, Edo Queens will take on the reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, on Thursday, November 16.
This fixture is expected to be the ultimate test of the Nigerian side’s resolve and ambition.

Moses Aduku’s Edo Queens are no strangers to high-pressure games, and their form leading up to the competition has raised hopes that they can hold their own against some of the continent’s most elite teams.
However, with only the top two teams advancing from each group, the margin for error is slim.
All eyes are now on the Nigerian champions as they prepare to show off their mettle on one of Africa’s biggest stages.
