Ebube Duru continued his impressive run in the Denmark Superliga, delivering a Man of the Match performance capped by a crucial goal for SønderjyskE in their away victory over Velje.
The Nigerian defender’s contribution was vital as his team secured a 3-2 win in their Group B relegation playoff match at the Vejle Stadium, Footballrover reports.
Duru’s decisive goal against Velje turns the tide
The 25-year-old Duru, celebrating his first goal for the team, played for 78 minutes before being substituted by Alberto Vogtmann.
The first half of the contest remained goalless, but the game sprang to life after the interval when Anders Jacobsen put Velje ahead in the 55th minute.
However, the visitors mounted a swift comeback. Mohamed Cherif equalised in the 62nd minute, and then, just four minutes later, Ebube Duru struck, scoring a vital goal against Velje to give SønderjyskE the lead.
Substitute Albert Rrahmani further extended their advantage, netting the third goal just 19 minutes after coming onto the pitch.
