He made this statement during a post-match interview with the media after the game, emphasizing that they had aimed for a clear victory over the Ethiopian team known as Lucy, Footballrover reports

In the first leg of their 2024 Olympics qualifying second round match, the former African champions rallied from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia at the Abebe Bekila Stadium in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.

While addressing the press, Coach Madugu assured Nigerians that the team was fully committed to winning the upcoming reverse fixture.

He reiterated their determination to defeat Ethiopia in Abuja in the second leg.

It wasn’t an easy game, because the Ethiopians also ensured they got something from the game. We came to win, but it didn’t come out as expected. We will ensure we get a better result at home,” he said.

The second leg is scheduled to take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, October 31.

The team that emerges as the overall winner in this tie will go on to battle either Cameroon or Uganda in the third round of the competition.
