Diego Costa scored his first League goal since May 21, 2017, as Wolves defeated Brentford to earn their second straight victory and move closer to Premier League safety.
Lemina almost gave the home team the early advantage when he released a curling strike from outside the area, but Raya deflected the shot away.
Brentford had gone four games without a victory and had not put Sa to the test, before Costa managed to register his first Wolves goal.
At halftime, Lopetegui’s team was ahead thanks to Costa’s first goal for Wolves.
The opening few periods belonged to the home team, who played better and nearly miraculously gained the lead.
Lemina was on the edge of the box after Sarabia’s backheel, and Raya blocked the midfielder’s curling shot.
Brentford forward, Toney had an overhead kick denied by Sa and two shots stopped, before Wolves grabbed the lead.
Toti received the ball from Costa down the left flank and sprinted forward to locate the striker in the box.
With his initial touch, he moved the ball out of his reach, but Norgaard’s attempt on clearing the ball hit the striker’s foot and went past Raya.
Just after the break, the Spanish goalkeeper managed to stop Diego Costa from scoring again before Hwang extended Wolves’ lead.
After beating Brentford, Wolves moved seven points outside of the bottom-half of the table. They will be optimistic about winning their third straight game when they visit Leicester City next.
When Brentford hosts Aston Villa, they’ll be hoping to get back on track.
