Dele-Bashiru’s journey to Lazio came after an impressive season with Hatayspor in Turkey, where his performances caught the eye of Serie A scouts.

Adapting to Serie A: The key challenges for Dele-Bashiru

Despite his promising transfer, his start in Italy has been less straightforward. In a recent interview, he spoke about the obstacles he’s faced in adjusting to the new league and its demands.

So far, life in Serie A has been “stop and start,” according to Dele-Bashiru. He admits that things have not been smooth sailing, but he appreciates the guidance and support he’s receiving from his coach.

He’s confident that as the season progresses and he gains more playing time, he will be able to deliver the performances Lazio fans expect.

It’s been a bit stop and start. But I think the coach is getting me used to the league, the new surroundings, and  the challenges. I think it is helping me improve as a player; every day in training they are pushing me to be the best I can be. They are trying to get every little thing out of me, which is good for me.

“I think as the season goes on and as I play more games and have more experience, it should be good,” he told Football Fans Tribe.

The Super Eagles midfielder is particularly focused on enhancing his tactical awareness and defensive skills, areas he feels will help elevate his game in the demanding Italian league.

Although the adjustment has been tough, Dele-Bashiru remains committed to his development.

“I think the main thing is my defensive side. My tactical awareness defensively—that’s one thing I am hoping to improve on this season, and if I can do that, the future is looking good,” he added.

With a clear focus on improving his defensive capabilities, he’s determined that this season will only get better as he continues to find his feet in Serie A.
